Wonderment is basically a state of awed admiration or respect and for the longest time, we’ve all been trying to create the sort of work that will arouse that feeling in people. “New School Thinking” is just new ways of seeing data and new ways of exploring mediums and touch-points to bring to surface what have always been inside all of us all along. Understanding the fundamentals of the human condition will help you use all marketing arsenal you have at your fingertips in a more impactful way.
Ethnography: What pop culture is teaching us about us
-What can we learn about people by studying pop? Would we be able to detect shifting values or beliefs by looking at the nature of what’s consumed over a long period of time? And if we could, would be able to use those data to aid marketers to engage people in more meaningful ways? Discover how imagery, lyrics and subject matter reveal what’s happening in our brains. This session will end with a mini workshop.
Unlikely Canvases: New ways at looking at a medium
-Can you use clouds as screens, human skin as a story-books and a fashion-runway as a pulpit? If a medium is a vehicle for the delivery of a message, then everything that can be seen or heard is technically a medium begging to be used. In this session, we’ll not only talk about the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of these things, but also why people experience wonderment in new experiences and why these things have such an impact on them.
Chow Kuey Teow with data
-Data is human behavior in disguise but how do you see through that disguise? How do you look for the right combination of information, connect the dots and create something that people would care about? There are many trigger points to how people respond to things identifying them and using the right mix makes for better work. This will be followed by a mini assignment and group presentations.
