The Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning offers an exciting opportunity to study issues in education at postgraduate level.
This highly specialised programme is designed to meet the professional development needs of teachers in the early childhood, primary, and secondary sectors, and to help teachers further develop their critical knowledge and understanding of issues related to teaching and learning in Malaysia, including their own teaching practices.
The programme offers specializations in three areas:
Teaching of Primary Science
Teaching of Primary Mathematics
Teaching of English for Primary level
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
Design appropriate teaching sessions and programmes and critically evaluate their effectiveness
Evaluate and apply appropriately a wide range of learning and teaching methods, to work with large groups, small groups and one-to-one
Use and value appropriate learning technologies to develop effective learning materials, learning environments and learning support systems
Use an innovative range of assessment techniques to support learning and enable students to monitor their own progress
Identify and articulate a personal perspective on learning in response to understanding of new ideas and encounter with relevant studies
Critically analyse and evaluate current themes and issues in education, using appropriate concepts and research evidence
Interpret, assess and deploy research methodologies and their evidence

To enrol in this course, you are required to have a minimum of:
A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, as accepted by the HEP’s Senate; OR
A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent, not meeting CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years working experience in a relevant field.
You will be exposed to a number of critical areas over 3 semesters and will be assessed through a combination of written examinations and assignments.
